Rickie Fowler flirted with a front-nine implosion Sunday at the Honda Classic, but he rebounded down the back stretch and pieced together a final-round 71to finish 12 under par overall, taking home his fourth career PGA Tour title.
Following a two-over showing on his first nine holes, Fowler shot one under paron the back nine at PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, to hold on for his first PGA Tour triumph since 2015.
By virtue of the win, Fowler will take home a $1.1 million share of the $6.4 million purse.

Fowler entered the final round with a comfortable four-shot lead, but it didn't last long.
Although Fowler was in position to save par at No. 4, he opted for his putter over a wedge and took a drop after his third shot careened into the sprinkler head, as Golf Channel documented on Twitter:
Golf Channel @ GolfChannelThis was the beginning of Rickie's trouble. Nice trickshot, not so nice golf shot. #HondaClassic https://t.co/epVYI0ChS9
Fowler's problems were amplified two holes later, when his tee shot at the par-four sixth found the water, according to Golf Channel's Will Gray:
Will Gray @ WillGrayGCYesterday Fowler said key to his round was a good drive on No. 6 where he faded it off the water. Today he rinses it. Might get interesting.
Fowler proceeded to make double bogey, and his lead was slashed from four strokes to two.
At that point, it would have been fair for Fowler to get consumed by nerves, especially considering he entered the day 0-4 when owning a 54-hole lead, according to Golf Channel's Justin Ray.
But just when it looked like he was primed to crumble, Fowler responded with a clutch birdie at the eighth after his tee shot found the pine straw, as the PGA Tour documented on Twitter:

While Fowler battled inconsistencies, Woodland made a charge up the leaderboard and moved to within a stroke of the leader through 13 holes, via the PGA Tour:

Engaged in a shot-for-shot duel at that point, Fowler decided to ramp his game up when he poured in a 38-foot putt for birdie on No. 12 to regain a two-shot lead:

The scoring surge didn't stop there.
Fowler dropped another birdie in the bucket at No. 13 to widen his edge, at which point No Laying Up noted the 28-year-old was squashing all thoughts of a collapse:
No Laying Up @ NoLayingUpRickie knew how bad your Monday morning take was going to be and now he's making sure that none of us have to hear it
The famed Bear Trap, spanning Nos. 15-17, threatened to throw one final wrench into Fowler's title plans, but he conquered the daunting stretch with composure and aplomb despite an encounter with the drink on No. 17.
Now just over a month away from the Masters with some new hardware in his possession, Fowler appears to be rounding into peak form with a chance to capture his first career major championship when things get going at Augusta National.
Post-Round Reaction
According to ESPN.com's Jason Sobel, Fowler received some special words of encouragement prior to the final round:
Jason Sobel @ JasonSobelTANRickie Fowler says he received a text from Tiger Woods last night: "Go get it done tomorrow."
"My putter saved me," Fowler said, per the PGA Tour on Twitter. "Made some good putts. It was tough out there today. Fought as hard as I could. Felt like I hit a lot of good shots, or shots that I thought were gonna turn out good. Wind was tough today."
"I can relax a little bit," Fowler added, per the Associated Press' Doug Ferguson. "This just lets us chill out in a way. There's less pressure, less stress. I think this is something we needed going into Augusta. I like this spot we're in right now."
Woodland, however, was left to look back and reflect on his late slip-ups.
"I thought all of them looked pretty good," Woodland said of his birdie opportunities, per Ferguson. "It was a little deflating on 18. Thought I hit a pretty good drive and thought I would have a chance, and I just couldn't get home and laid up in the water, which was bad."
